Aldara works by stimulating your own
body's immune system to fight the virus that
causes genital warts.
USE
Use Aldara
exactly as directed by your doctor. Aldara should
typically be used once a day 3 times a weak:
Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, or Tuesday,
Thursday, and Saturday. For best results apply
Aldara cream at bedtime after bathing. Before you
use Aldara wash your hands completely. Apply a
thin layer of cream on the affected area(s). When
you're done, wash your hands and discard the open
packet. Leave the cream on for 6 to 10 hours then
wash with soap and water.
PRECAUTIONS
Aldara should
not be applied to warts inside the vagina or
anus. Aldara cream may weaken the effectiveness
of condoms and diaphragms. Before engaging in
sexual activity, wash excess cream off with soap
and water. Aldara is not a cure for genital
warts. Therefore you should exercise caution when
engaging in sexual activity with others, even
when warts are completely gone. During treatment
DO NOT cover warts with bandages or any other
closed dressings.
SIDE
EFFECTS
Side effects of
Aldara are usually mild to moderate and include
redness, peeling, and swelling in the area where
Aldara is applied. Less common side effects that
may occur are burning, itching, and pain. These
side effects are caused by a response from your
body's immune system to the drug. In most cases
they are not serious enough to stop treatment.
